• my dog died due to PetSmart grooming

spreading this around so no one has to go through what my family just did.
My healthy, happy, young pup, went from perfect health (which was recently checked by a veterinary professional) to dead in a matter of hours after being groomed at a PetSmart. He came home from his grooming feeling lethargic, scared, throwing up, completely traumatized by the experience. The next day, my parents went for a hike, which they would normally bring him on, but decided to leave him home as he still wasn’t feeling himself. Upon their return, he was already deceased. This was a dog who has had no issues with groomers in the past, has moved across the coast, stays in boarding kennels often, has never had any major health or behavioral issues in his life. My parents provide him with excellent and frequent veterinary care, spending the money even when not necessary, keeping up with preventatives as well as vaccines. I am a trained veterinary assistant who also helps them with his health on many occasions. So, naturally, I made a quick search to see if any others had had a similar experience. In utter shock, I came across dozens of articles depicting the deaths of multiple dogs in the same exact way, as well as detailed accounts of animal abuse from customers and employees alike. I even found an active Facebook page run by someone who is currently suing PetSmart, Justice for Scruffles, where you can see many more personal reports of dead pets.

Please reblog and share this message, spread it around to your friends and family with pets, boycott PetSmart. Unfortunately, most people don’t have the money to pay for necropsies and legal fees for their pets, so we need to take these things into our own hands if we want the cruelty to end.

    Rest in peace, buddy.
